Area: 0.7 hectares

Description and Reasons for Notification:

This is a new Geological Conservation Review site.

This exposure is the type-locality for the Yeolmbridge Formation, an important black shale development that is widely distributed in Devon and Cornwall. Palaeontological evidence allows the Devonian- Carboniferous boundary to be inferred in this rock unit, while trilobites, ammonoids and miospores indicate that early Carboniferous (Gattendorfia Stufe) age sediments are certainly present. An important site showing the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary in a fossiliferous sequence.
